The .SE country-code top-level extension was established in 1986 and assigned to Sweden. During the first years after its launch, the registration process was very restrictive, so a very low number of domains were reserved. Individuals were allowed to reserve no more than one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was necessary, i.e. merely Swedish individuals, companies and organizations could order a .SE domain. In 2003, however, the registration process was loosened a lot and, consequently, the number of .SE domains has been mounting each year.
Currently, anybody can buy a dot SE name, which allows you to get in touch with the Swedish WWW community even if you do not have a local presence. We are among the registrars that offer such domains, as they cannot be bought directly from the Registry organization. We can also assist you with the registration process because the Registry requires specific documentation such as an ID for persons or a registration certificate for business entities. This is a one-time process, which will not be needed for further renewals, and we can save you all the trouble by working with the Registry to get your dot SE domain name online in no time.
The dot SE country-code TLD is also amongst the domain extensions that can be used for the so-called “domain hacks”, i.e. using a domain with a specific TLD to represent a word. Several illustrations would be “ofcour.se”, “endor.se”, etc., so you can order an inventive and easy-to-memorize domain name. Such a name will also be simple to share, which can increase the popularity of your site.
